Frederick Wiseman is known for his stark and brutally honest explorations of life within American institutions. Prison, high school, hospitals, a welfare office and basic training camp; those are just a few of the locations he’s taken us to. For a 1997 film, Wiseman turned his attention to Chicago’s Ida B. Wells public housing complex, now demolished. Alison Cuddy recently talked with Wiseman about his work in Chicago, simply titled, Public Housing. Wiseman speaks at an event at DePaul University tonight.
