The federal tax trial of former Illinois Congressman Mel Reynolds is moving forward more quickly than expected. Federal prosecutors wrapped up this morning after spending two days presenting evidence. Reynolds, who is representing himself, had promised to call witnesses and present evidence in his defense. He even indicated he would testify on his own behalf. Instead, Reynolds rested his case Wednesday without presenting any defense. Reynolds says he does not believe the government proved its case.
