Illinois budget woes are dominating the headlines as state lawmakers battle it out to come up with ways to fill some of the holes. But, we’re certainly not the only ones falling behind. On Tuesday, legislators in Puerto Rico passed a sales tax increase that the U.S. territory hopes will put a dent in the more than $70 billion debt. Puerto Rico’s former governor Aníbal Acevedo Vilá argues that drastic changes are needed to find a more viable future, and the U.S. needs to own its responsibility in how Puerto Rico can move forward - and how it got here.
