Indiana had a nail-biter of a night yesterday as the votes from the presidential primary filtered in. The country waited for results from Lake County to come in late into the night. Chicago Public Radio’s Tony Arnold was at Senator Barack Obama’s campaign headquarters in Gary and has this report.Close to 200 people started their evening outside Obama’s campaign office located in a strip mall in Gary. Two of those were sisters Chris Robinson and Alicia Robinson-Jenkins.
ROBINSONS: O-BAM-A. O-BAM-A.
Chris owns her own business and says she supports Obama for his health care policies.
CHRIS: I can’t wait ‘til Obama get in the White House because momma need a new hip.
ALICIA: And that’s the truth. She’s laughing but that’s the truth.
The sisters left the party before most of the die hard Obama fans, who stuck around late into the night. But they said they were optimistic of Obama’s overall odds to win the nomination.
CHRIS: I’m still rooting. I still have hope that Obama is gonna take it. I’m just gonna keep hope alive.
But the two add that whoever wins the nomination, they’ll support the Democrat regardless.
