A Northwest Indiana congressman wants all the agencies working on lead contamination in East Chicago to get on the same page.
The U.S. EPA and Department of Housing and Urban Development are dealing with the lead issue in the West Calumet Housing Complex. Some 11-hundred residents are having to move out because of high levels of lead in the soil. The mayor of the city has called out the EPA for withholding information on lead levels. U.S. Representative Pete Visclosky says all parties need to work closer. Visclosky says he is working to secure federal funds for the demolition of the structures once all residents have been moved out.
