Father Emil Cook — Founder of Mission Honduras International

Throughout the Global Activism Series, we have seen the importance of education in improving the lives of children and their families.

In Honduras, poor families have almost no access to education beyond the 6th grade level. And only 30 percent of all Honduran children go to high school.

Father Emil Cook is the co-founder of Mission Honduras International. The organization developed and runs elementary and high schools, a trade school, orphanages, and a shelter for abandoned mothers and children in Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and Liberia.

Mission Honduras International is now caring for and educating over 1,000 children each year in the three countries.

A book about Father Emil Cook’s life has just been published. It’s called “Man on a Mission: On the Road with Father Emil Cook and Mission Honduras International.”
