Global Activism: Literacy NGO, Bookwallah, on its India Mission and Lost Friend, Ed Kramer

In this Global Activism segment we’ll get an update on the work of Chicago-based NGO, Bookwallah from its founder and CEO, Seena Jacob. Bookwallah, which means  “book peddler“ in Hindi, provides books and establishes libraries for orphans in India and elsewhere. Jacob says, “if you know a child has suffered or has endured hardship…and you have a chance to…bring hope, happiness, and smiles — through the simple gift of a book — does it matter where they live?”  Joining Jacob is her husband, and Bookwallah supporter, Randall Kramer. They’ll talk about the passing of Ed Kramer, Randall’s father, a decades-long volunteer at WBEZ, and “Bookwallah’s biggest supporter and sponsor”.

Bookwallah will have its annual celebration on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 6pm-9pm at Archistoric Products, 2444 W 16th St in Chicago.
