It’s Thursday, and time for our Global Activism series. Each Thursday we hear about an individual who’s decided to work to make the world a better place. And since the earthquake in Haiti we promised to update you on our Global Activists who do crucial work down there and many of you asked about Fr. Tony Cortesi from Holy Angels Hospice and Orphanage. From our last update, we learned that Fr. Tony has some health problems that caused him to be in the U.S. for medical care when the earthquake hit. He’s on the mend now and against his doctors’ advice he’s in Haiti’s neighboring nation, the Dominican Republic, doing what he can for his kids.
A few weeks ago, we also talked to Fr. John Bellezza, head of the Holy Angels Children Society, the parent group of the hospice and orphanage. Recently, we caught up with Father John on a visit to Chicago and Father Tony by phone in the Dominican Republic.
