Shortly after Reset wrapped up this conversation on the status of the migrant tent shelter Tuesday, the Pritzker administration released a statement saying that it will not allow migrants to be housed at the site due to environmental issues.
“My administration is committed to keeping asylum seekers safe as we work to help them achieve independence,” Gov. Pritzker said in the statement. “We will not proceed with housing families on a site where serious environmental concerns are still present.”
The state said it would continue to work with the city on making more housing available for migrants this winter.
Reset gets the backstory on the environmental concerns for the Brighton Park site and how the city and state are approaching housing for migrants.
