By the year 2025, Illinois utility companies will be required to supply at least a quarter of their power from renewable energy sources. One company has already started building wind turbines that will help provide that clean energy. As part of Chicago Matters: Growing Forward, Joel Link of Invenergy gave us a tour of one of his company’s wind farms. The Grand Ridge Wind Energy Center is located about sixty miles south of Chicago in LaSalle County. It’s strategically placed right next door to the Lasalle Generating Station, a nuclear power plant.
