This morning, education advocates, policy makers and reporters are attending the Hope USA summit in Washington D.C. Numbers in 2007 reveal that nearly 6.2 million kids dropped out of school – many of them black and Hispanic youth. The report, conducted by a researcher at Northeastern University in Boston, urges federal money to be funneled to re-enroll high school drop outs. Cheryle Jackson is the President and CEO of the Chicago Urban League, which had a hand in producing this report and the policy recommendations.
