Illinois Republicans are reacting to Mitt Romney’s announcement today he’s suspending his bid for the GOP nomination for president. Andy McKenna chairs the Illinois Republican Party. He says the former Massachusetts Governor’s decision to step aside will help unify Republicans around one candidate sooner.MCKENNA: It says a lot about his character that he’s choosing to make this move for the good of the party and the good of the country.
The Illinois Republican Party has not endorsed a candidate for president. Arizona Senator John McCain is considered the front-runner for the Republican nomination in a field that includes former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and Texas Congressman Ron Paul.
