School officials in Palatine, Illinois, are reportedly considering a settlement in a discrimination case brought by a transgender high school student who wants unfettered access to the girls’ locker room.
The school had been requiring the student to use a private restroom or curtained-off areas in the girls’ locker room. Federal education officials ordered the school district to eliminate all barriers to full access by today or risk losing millions of dollars in federal funding.
Chicago Tribune reporter Duaa Eldeib has been covering this case and speaks with Here & Now‘s Jeremy Hobson.
