In Rare Step, Cook County Reopens Waitlist For Suburban Housing Vouchers

It’s the first time in nearly 20 years that applications to join the waitlist are open.

The Housing Choice Voucher program subsidizes some of the housing costs for suburban Cook County residents in need, currently helping 15,000 people make their payments each month.

Now, the county is accepting new applications for its waitlist for the first time since 2001. Reset brings on Rich Monocchio of the Housing Authority of Cook County for more on this issue.
