Investigation finds ShotSpotter missed hundreds of Chicago shootings over a year

South Side Weekly found the company formerly known as ShotSpotter missed over 550 outdoor shootings from December 2022 to December 2023.

According to the investigation, the missed shootings included a 55-round barrage of gunshots that injured two people. Company executives point to down sensors and lack of resources as the main culprits.
