News broke late Friday that University of Chicago Medical Center’s CEO, James Madara, will step down as of October 1. The hospital was criticized after it began to redirect patients with routine problems, many of whom are poor or uninsured, to nearby hospitals and clinics. Dr. Madara called it the Urban Health Initiative. Alex Parker, of the Chi Town Daily News, tells us what Dr. Madara’s departure means for patients and the hospital’s future.
