Odds are, at some point in your life you’ll encounter someone affected by diabetes- it might even be you. In 2014 more than 29 millions Americans had the disease and of those, just over eight million were not yet diagnosed. With the disease hitting more and more people, the American Diabetes Association has been using the fourth Tuesday in March to provide a “wake-up call,” asking the American public to take the Diabetes Risk Test to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Morning Shift marks the day with a look at the current fight against diabetes, how treatments are developing, why more people are at risk, and how can those with diabetes live healthy lives without having to eat bland foods.
