Local Imam discusses the criminal charges facing Elgin Imam, Mohammed Abdullah Saleem

A prominent Imam from Elgin, Mohammed Abdullah Saleem, has been in court this week facing charges of sexual abuse and battery. In addition to those criminal proceedings, prosecutors are also seeking a grand jury indictment against Saleem and a civil lawsuit has also been filed. Saleem is the founder of a religious school called the Institute of Islamic Education. It follows a school of thought that’s been described as “orthodox, even puritanical.” Joining us to explain that school of thought and share his thoughts on these allegations is Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, a leader in the larger Muslim community.
