Earlier this year ‘Eight Forty-Eight” devoted an entire show to exploring life for the everyday gay teen. Chicago teacher Tina Fakhrid-Deen was part of that show. She wasn’t talking about the gay teen, however. As the child of a lesbian mother, she wanted other kids to have the resources for dealing with potential bullying and questioning about life as the child of a gay parent. She talked to Alison about her book, “Let’s Get This Straight: The Ultimate Handbook for Youth with LGBTQ Parent.”
Fakhrid-Deen is also founder of the Chicago chapter of COLAGE.
