From his role as Franklin Roosevelt’s “negro” advisor, to his appointment as the first secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development by Lyndon Johnson, Robert Clifton Weaver was one of the most influential civil rights advocates of the twentieth century. In this Newberry Library talk, University of Pennsylvania law professor Wendell Pritchett discusses Weaver’s legacy.
