Metra is raising ticket prices and cutting some train service in order to balance its 2018 budget. The commuter rail agency says state funding cuts are to blame for what will be the fourth year in a row of higher ticket prices. Starting in February, a one-way Metra ticket will cost 25 cents more, and 10-ride, weekend, and monthly pass rates will also increase. For the first time in its history, Metra is also cutting some train service to help close its $45 million dollar funding gap.
