Chicago-based Midway Games is planning to shut down its headquarters located on the city’s Northwest side.

Midway produces several lines of video games. Perhaps most well-known is the Mortal Kombat series.

But the company has been struggling to keep its financial footing recently. And now it has filed paperwork with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

According to its filing, Midway Games will close its Chicago-based headquarters and layoff all of the employees at that office. That represents 60 people, or 20 percent of its global workforce.

Earlier this month, a bankruptcy judge approved Warner Brothers Entertainment to purchase Midway for $33-million. The Chicago layoffs are scheduled to take place at the beginning of September.
