A study released today suggests more older Chicagoans are losing their housing. The Chicago Alliance to End Homelessness looked at the homeless population over 50. Group director Nancy Radner says older people living pay check to pay check are most at risk.

RADNER: Some specific thing might happen, they have an illness, a family crisis occurs. And what we’re finding is that it takes only one thing when you are already in a precarious situation.

The report shows the number jumped almost 25-percent over a 5-year period. It also found many older homeless people are military veterans.
