Jim Douglass has written four books on the theology of non-violence. He’s devoted his life to the non-violent peace movement.

Douglass Co-founded the Ground Zero Center for Non-violent Action. It protests the trident nuclear submarine base near Seattle. He now lives in Birmingham, Alabama where he and his wife started a Catholic worker house for homeless families.

A devotion to peace led Jim to re-evaluate the assassinations of the 1960s. His book, JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters, comes out April 25th. Douglass speaks tonight on “The Converging Martyrdom of Malcolm and Martin” at Loyola University‘s Crown Center Auditorium at 7PM.

Friday marks the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s assassination. Jim Douglass is one of a few people who witnessed the entire civil case the King family brought in 1999 against Lloyd Jowers and other unknown co-conspirators. The jury found governmental agencies were part of a conspiracy to kill Dr. King.

While most of America rejected the idea of government involvement in the assassination, the King family and Jim Douglass were firmly persuaded by the trial.
