The fourth time is the charm for dairy magnate Jim Oberweis. He’s run for public office three other times but has never won in his party’s primary until now. The Republican from Chicago’s far west suburbs won the nomination in the race to replace former Congressman Dennis Hastert.

OBERWEIS: Boy, winning’s a lot more fun than coming in second, I’ll tell you that.

Oberweis defeated long-time state Senator Chris Lauzen with 56 percent of the vote. Both Lauzen and Oberweis ran bitter campaigns against each other. Oberweis will now face off against Democrat Bill Foster in the 14th Congressional District’s special election on March 8.
