Peoples Gas bills to rise, but not as much as expected
The Illinois Commerce Commission approved cuts to four rate hike requests to utilities across the Chicago region.
Regulators voted unanimously to lower a proposed rate hike from Peoples Gas that would have raised Chicagoans’ bills by nearly $12 a month. The current rate hike will be about $301 million — lower than the $402 million requested. Peoples Gas has not yet released details about how that will show up in customers’ monthly bills, but some experts expect bills will rise about $6 per month.
