Susan Howe is the 2007 Pearl Andelson Sherry Memorial Visiting Poet at The University of Chicago. Her most recent books are The Midnight published by New Directions, and Kidnapped from Coracle Press.  Two CDs in collaboration with the musician/composer David Grubbs: Thiefth, and Souls of the Labadie Tract, both released on the Blue Chopsticks label (the first in 2005 and the later in 2007).  Her critical study, My Emily Dickinson (1986) is being re-issued by New Directions this fall, along with a new collection of poems titled Souls of The Labadie Tract. She held the Samuel P. Capen Chair in Poetry and the Humanities at the State University New York at Buffalo, until her retirement this spring, and lives in Guilford, CT.
