We were going to play softball tonight against the Reader but they had to bail because of the Printers Ball. At first, I thought this “Printers Ball” might be an offshoot of the Players Ball, for those pimps with good penmanship. But alas, it is not - it is a conference for Chicago’s independent publishing put on by the Poetry Foundation. It features several readings, panel discussions and events that highlight and showcase Chicago’s vibrant and up and coming literary scene. Chicago Amplified will be there this weekend, recording several of the events. When I went to the Printers ball site, I was surprised at the list of‚  literary organizations involved. Wow. Literary organizations have taken over from improv groups (there are a million improv groups).
