Hundreds of protesters are gathering in Chicago to rally against the American Bankers Association conference.

The protesters claim the ABA has blocked reforms to the US banking system, even though bailout money was given to some members. The Obama Administration proposed a government agency that would ban business practices deemed abusive or unfair. ABA officials argued against the plan, saying it created an unneeded bureaucratic agency. A protest organizer says about a thousand protesters will be in town from across the nation. Rallies are expected to continue until Tuesday.
