An overflow crowd showed up at the Bilandic Building on LaSalle St. Tuesday to hear testimony on the Genetically Engineered Food Labeling Act. The state legislation would require store-bought food to be labeled if it contained ingredients produced through genetic engineering. Sponsored by State Sen. David Koehler of Peoria, Senate Bill 1666, has attracted hundreds of activists, industry lobbyists and farmers on both sides of the issue to hearings in Normal, Carbondale and finally Chicago on Tuesday. Koehler tells us what he heard from the public. Photo: Flickr/danorth1
