This week, Chicago lost one of its pioneering radio personalities. Richard Stamz died Tuesday from congestive heart failure and pneumonia. He was 101 years old.
Stamz was one of Chicago’s first black radio disc jockeys whose AM radio show was famously associated with the phrase and song, “Open the door, Richard!”
