The Reverend Michael Pfleger has returned to the pulpit at St. Sabina Church on Chicago’s South Side. Cardinal Francis George put Pfleger on sabbatical after the priest mocked former Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.

The congregation clearly had missed its pastor during his nearly two-week suspension.

PFLEGER: It’s good to see you. (cheering)

George had suspended Pfleger for comments the Cardinal called “partisan.” But yesterday in front of a packed church, Pfleger channeled the theme “ain’t nothing like a comeback.” He says he’s chosen to be an activist for social justice, which he says can quote “get you in trouble.”

PFLEGER: I will not let my faults or my imperfections cause me to run, nor will I allow them to cause me to hide, nor will I allow them to cause me to ‘play it safe,’ nor will I allow them to cause me to be ‘silent.’

Pfleger also preached the Bible verse, “For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again.”
