The church has generally become the anchor in neighborhoods where businesses have closed and economic stability is waning. In the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, one pastor hopes to rebirth the community with a major new development. Pastor John Hannah, senior pastor at New Life Covenant Church in Greater Grand Crossing, plans on bringing an early childhood learning center to his neighborhood and adding a new church sanctuary which will double as a community performing arts center. Pastor Hannah joins us to talk about the church’s responsibility in revitalizing neighborhoods.
