A new documentary tells the story of black entrepreneurship in America. It’s called Boss: The Black Experience in Business, and it premieres tonight on WTTW.
It’s documentarian Stanley Nelson’s latest work, following previous documentaries including The Murder of Emmett Till in 2003 and Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool in 2019.
Nelson’s won three Emmy awards and a MacArthur Genius Grant, and he received a National Humanities Medal from President Barack Obama.
WBEZ’s Melba Lara spoke with Nelson about black businesses in Chicago and throughout U.S. history.
