Keven Stonewall Jr. is a student at Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine. His goal is to become an oncologist. As a teenager, Keven interned alongside Ph.D. students and professors at Rush University Medical Center, performing cancer research experiments on mice and writing up findings in a medical journal.
Last year, Keven came to the StoryCorps booth in Chicago with his parents. His dad, Keven Sr., drove his son to and from that internship each day, and alongside his wife got their son a microscope when he was a kid.
This interview was facilitated by StoryCorps Chicago’s Mary Bess Ser.
