A U.S. Supreme Court Justice has denied an appeal from former media mogul Conrad Black.

Black’s attorneys asked the Supreme Court to free the former head of the Chicago Sun-Times from prison while he appeals his fraud case to the high court. But Justice John Paul Stevens rejected that motion without comment.

Black has now served 17 months out of a six-and-a-half year prison sentence. He also ran Hollinger International and was found guilty of defrauding the company out of millions of dollars.

Earlier this year, the Supreme Court agreed to consider overturning Black’s conviction. That is scheduled to come before the high court later this year.
