Supreme Court strikes down Biden’s student loan forgiveness program

The program would’ve wiped away up to $400 billion in student loans. Eligible borrowers would have had up to $20,000 of their debt canceled.

In a 6-3 ruling, the Supreme Court ruled Friday that the U.S. Department of Education does not have the authority to erase student debt. The pause on student loan repayments is set to expire in the fall.
