The Chicago Teachers Union has expelled its vice president. The union’s executive board found Ted Dallas guilty of financial impropriety.

Dallas and Chicago Teachers Union president Marilyn Stewart had a falling out last year. That was around the time the union went into debt after spending millions of dollars in surplus funds. Dallas was accused of abusing his expense account and cashing-out unused sick days. He says the allegations are strictly political.

Dallas says he was retaliated against for speaking out about union finances. A union spokesperson dismisses Dallas’s claim. She says the investigation into his spending was thorough. Dallas says he plans to appeal the expulsion.
