The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has designated Monday, Jul. 17 as another Air Pollution Action Day because of smoke from Canadian wildfires. Bad air quality has affected our region repeatedly this summer and it’s one of the many ways the impact of climate change can be felt locally.

Elisabeth Moyer is an associate professor in the Department of the Geophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago.
