►Residents of Sauk Village in southern Cook County are demanding clean water. The Illinois
Environmental Protection Agency announced earlier this week the village’s drinking water is contaminated with vinyl chloride. The IEPA says the chemical is a known carcinogen.►The Second City and Lyric Opera of Chicago announced Wednesday that cheeky comedy and classical singing will share the same stage in “The Second City Guide to Opera” this winter.
►Chicago got closer to a possible teachers strike Wednesday afternoon as the Chicago Board of Education and the Chicago Teachers Union rejected the recommendations made by an outside mediator in the ongoing contract negotiations between the union and the financially strapped school district.
