Soup and bread: What’s up with soup? The food most commonly associated with sad things like the Great Depression and being sick has taken on a new life with the Hideout’s weekly event Soup & Bread, the popularity of which resulted in two cookbooks. Soup & Bread founder and author Martha Bayne and WBEZ blogger Louisa Chu say the phenomenon is more than the sum of its parts.
