It’s not a great start of the new school year for Fighting Illini fans… One week before the start of the season, the University of Illinois fired head football coach Tim Beckman. U of I Athletic Director Mike Thomas said in a statement on Friday that he learned of “efforts to deter injury reporting” and pressure players “to continue playing despite injuries.” There were other allegations about Beckman threatening the scholarships of some seniors who were injured.
