There could be the U.S. vs. Rod Blagojevich part three. Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and his lawyers are in court asking for yet another trial, on Monday.

Just a month ago, Rod Blagojevich was found guilty on 17 of 20 counts in his second corruption trial. He and his lawyers insist that he didn’t get a fair shake. They filed a hefty 158 page motion detailing their perceived “avalanche of errors” in the retrial.

Among them are claims that, “manipulation by the government led to the improper exclusion of potential jurors. ” And that, “the Court essentially denied all of the defense’s motions.”

They’re scheduled to have a status hearing before Judge James Zagel today.  At the hearing, the court is expected to identify what issues are contested, what discovery needs to be completed, and what future hearings are needed.

UPDATE:

Zagel has set an Oct. 6 sentencing date for Blagojevich.

He set the date during a status hearing Monday. Blagojevich didn’t attend the hearing.
