More than one-third of Chicago’s vacant lots are near L stops, according to a new study.
Vacant lots near L stations are concentrated in predominantly Black neighborhoods, and they can prevent residents from safely accessing public transit and from feeling connected to neighborhood amenities.
That’s according to a report from Elevated Chicago, DePaul University’s Institute for Housing Studies and community groups.
