Jason Van Dyke, the Chicago police officer accused of fatally shooting 16-year-old Laquan McDonald, may stand trial outside of Cook County. Judge Vincent Gaughan presides over a hearing Friday, and will decide whether or not to move the trial.
Former President Barack Obama endorsed a slate of Democratic candidates from across the country. Obama’s endorsements include 81 candidates from 14 states, including gubernatorial candidate J.B. Pritzker and five others from Illinois.
And public officials have begun to weigh in on the draft consent decree, which lays out potential rules for federal court oversight of the Chicago Police Department.
