Recently Greek Organizations nationwide have been facing backlash over incidents involving sexual assault and racism. Some, like pundit Bill Maher, have proposed banning Greek Organizations altogether. When you think of fraternities and sororities, you might imagine lofty buildings with high-reaching columns and large Greek letters on top. But those grand houses have to do some downsizing when they hit the big city. We discuss what Greek life looks like at urban institutions. You won’t be finding a frat house at the University of Illinois at Chicago, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any Greeks. With a population of mostly off-campus students, their fraternities and sororities provide on-campus communities.
