Morocco’s King Mohamed VI put a new constitution up for a vote on July 1st. The overwhelmingly approved document envisions a new Morocco as a “Neo-liberal utopian space where politics is either illegitimate or simply unnecessary”. We’ll look at Morocco’s unique response to the “Arab Spring” with Paul Silverstein, professor of anthropology at Reed College. And the Art Institute of Chicago’s “Avant-Garde Art in Everyday Life” exhibit features 300 works of modern art by the masters of their craft: John Heartfield, Gustav Klutsis, El Lissitzky, Ladislav Sutnar, Karel Teige and Piet Zwart. Their works include photography, photographically illustrated posters and books and rare examples of porcelain and glassware.
