By Jenny FriedlandWorldview recently returned from our seven-city road trip. Today, we bring you coverage from Ann Arbor, where we learned about an oil pipeline under intense debate. The Enbridge Line 5 pipeline’s route runs under Michigan’s Straits of Mackinac. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and environmental groups are seeking to decommission the pipeline, citing primarily environmental concerns. Energy company Enbridge, however, is pushing back, and the fight could spend years working its way through the courts. Beth Wallace, Great Lakes Partnerships Manager at the National Wildlife Federation, joined us to discuss the environmental risks posed by Line 5.
The Worldview bus tour visited communities throughout the Great Lakes region for a week as we celebrate the show’s twenty-fifth year on air. From water insecurity in Flint to indigenous rights in Kalamazoo, we are sharing stories that allow you to experience the world through the communities in your own backyard.
