Cheney Meets with Georgian President, Reaffirms Committment

Vice president Dick Cheney is in Tbilisi today, meeting with Georgian President Mikheil Sakashvilli. Cheney said the US is committed to NATO membership for Georgia. He called Russia's actions in Gerogia “illegitimate and unilateral.”

Presdient Bush proposed a billion dollars in non-military aid for Georgia yesterday. This is up from 63 million in combined military and humanitarian from the US last year.

Dr. George Khutsishvili is director of the International Center on Conflict and Negotiation (ICCN) in Tbilisi. He told Jerome what Georgia would do a billion dollars in new aid.
