Global Activism: Building a Maternal Health Clinic in the Ivory Coast

Group founder, Patsy Mertz with a student in the Ivory Coast.

It's Thursday, and time for our Global Activism series. Each Thursday we hear about an individual who's decided to work to make the world a better place. At the age of 50, Patsy Mertz decided she needed to do something different with her life. So she joined the Peace Corps. She was sent to Braffoueby, Cote D'Ivoire, where she was stationed until a coup forced her to leave the country. She left some unfinished business, so she founded the organization Ivory Coast Mothers and Children. They're in the process of building a maternity and infant healthcare clinic in Braffoueby, which Patsy says is an incredible place.
